Booking A Rolfing Appointment

Before arranging a session, we will hopefully have spoken by telephone to discuss what is going on with your body and what you hope to achieve by going through the Rolfing Process. Alternatively you can book on-line and provide information by completing the on-line Intake Form.

I recommend that you book one session first which should give you an idea of whether Rolfing will suit you. Once you decide to continue you can book the remaining nine sessions in the series, or alternatively book two more sessions.

The first three sessions can be of great benefit even though we tend to address only the surface layers and most obvious strain patterns. If after session three you decide that you would like to continue with Rolfing it is advisable to commit to all of the remaining seven sessions in the series so that any deep issues which emerge can be given a chance to be fully resolved.

To be assured of a regular time slot which suits you, it is advisable to schedule as many sessions as possible in advance. Please allow up to 90 minutes for the first session, as we will need to go through your medical history. Subsequent sessions will be 75 minutes. 75 minutes is usually sufficient for the session, but for those that would like to continue with longer sessions there is the option for a 90 minute ongoing session.

Booking Craniosacral Sessions

If you are interested in receiving craniosacral sessions, we can agree on whether you would like to receive one, or a number of sessions. This will depend on what is going on for you in terms of your body, anxiety and stress levels. Typically a client may come for sessions weekly over a 4-6 week period and once the body has settled, reduce the frequency to once a month or as and when required.

Booking a ScarWork Session

I have training in general ScarWork so can work on all types of scars, but I have also specialised training in oncology and caesarean section scars. Depending on the nature of the scar, 3–6 sessions should be sufficient, but really varies person to person. Scars should be 8+ weeks post-surgery and be free of infection. If you would like to discuss your scar before booking, please get in touch.

Payment

For new clients, the first payment is to be made online. After which, payment can be made online prior to your arrival, or using card reader or cash on the day. For clients that prefer to pay by direct transfer let me know and I will send my bank details.

Cancellation Policy

A minimum of 24 hour’s notice is required, otherwise the full session fee is due.

As soon as you know you are unable to keep your appointment, please let me know by text, WhatsApp or telephone, so that I can reschedule your appointment and offer the space to others.

What To Wear

Rolfing

The sessions take place in underwear, so please choose something that you feel comfortable to be seen in. Please do not wear bicycle shorts, or for ladies please do not wear sports bras with heavy lycra as both of these are difficult to work around. Normal underwear or swimwear works well. For men it is probably more comfortable to be in containing briefs/shorts rather than too baggy boxer shorts.

Craniosacral therapy

You will be fully clothed throughout the session so please wear whatever you will feel comfortable to lie down in.

ScarWork

Please wear something that allows easy access to the scar and surrounding area.

Other Policies and Insurance

My Commitment

Rolfers are trained to be fully supportive of their client’s process, during, between and for a reasonable time after treatment. I am therefore, always available to discuss any concerns, which come up for you as a result of the work and can also refer you on to another specialist if your issue is beyond my scope as a Rolfer.

Safety, Confidentiality and Code of Ethics

Rolfers are bound by a strict code of ethics and receive extensive training in how to ‘create a container in which change can happen’. This means creating an environment and working practice in which both the Rolfer and the client can feel comfortable. This involves setting and maintaining clear and appropriate boundaries and ensuring that all client information is kept strictly confidential. For more information on this please go to www.rolf.org

Liability

Rolfing is contraindicated for people with certain medical conditions. It is your responsibility to declare all medical conditions at the outset or obtain the consent of your doctor if you are unsure.

Whilst craniosacral therapy is safe for all, you will still need you to disclose your medical history so that I can understand what is happening for you and if appropriate, refer you to another practitioner.

My professional liability insurance is held with Balens. A full copy of the policy is available on request.

How You Can Help To Get The Most From Your Sessions

Rolfing doesn’t force change – it invites it. It is not a passive process, which is “done” to you but a joint effort between Rolfer and client to explore new options and possibilities in an open and safe environment. It is important therefore that you be fully involved trying to stay present during your sessions. I often provide ‘homework’ in the form of simple exercises and recommend that you commit to doing these from week to week to get the most out of your process.
